Buttons!!!!!

There are a few things that i just love and can never have enough of when it comes to crafting! Of course being a knitter, first would come yarn. No matter how much i already have, i still want more! The types and colors are endless!

Fabrics come in to a close second i must say. I never really bought nor "collected" fabrics til recently and started making more bags and clutches. But now i just cant get enough! Stripes, Solids, Polka dots, flowers, mod, retro, vintage, Japanese, just fabric! And, love love love Amy Butler. But then again, who doesn't!

But! my new found favorite is Buttons!!! Love Buttons! Old ones, new ones, big ones, small ones, bright ones, shiny ones, vintage ones, just buttons! What i am most amazed at though, are the handmade buttons! i never, til etsy, even knew about handmade buttons! And of course the talent on etsy is just endless!

One shop i came across recently, ButtonBliss, has just gorgeous handcrafted buttons that just make you drool! Here are some of my favs from her shop; including this Purple Button, is just gorgeous, made out of porcelain

Moving on to another total favorite, someone who handpresses her own czech glass buttons, Crazycakes. Simply beautiful buttons! From her Dragonfly Buttons (my personal fav) to these beautiful lime green czech glass buttons. But check out her shop, she has so many more than just these two, that are all equally if not more stunning!

Creamrose is another etsy shop i just love! She makes the most adorable and cute fabric covered buttons! These ever so adorable Japanese covered buttons are one of my favs of hers. How can you not smile when looking at these cute cute buttons! Can't you just imagine all the different ways you can use them? on cute bags, or to accessorize a little girls dress or shirt? She has so
many like these and so many others in her shop, too cute to pass up!

Of course i could not do a blog about buttons without some kind of tribute to vintage, since vintage buttons really are my true favorite! I think it's my favorite because they are big, chunky, funky shaped, and soooo different from any buttons commercially made today! VintageNecessities has this awesome lot of Vintage buttons that just about shows how great old buttons really are! Such an vast variety! The colors are so rich and the variety so grand! I would love to own them all!

There are truly so many i would love to share here with you all! But i am going to try and narrow it down a bit, that way you can have the pleasure of searching on etsy yourself to see what goodies you come across!

Funky Funky Funky Funky

Bringing a little funky your way this weekend!!

A bunch of us on this thread got to talking one day, and we all were kind of feeling anything but inspired to make things. Then Donna (aka Artbydonnarose) challenged us all to make something funky! Something out of our realm, something different, odd, wierd, but still very cool! But we only had 3 days to make our items. Well, i tell ya, what transpired from this seemingly harmless challenge - i dont think any of us could have anticipated! We created some 21 items between i think the 7 of us, in just 3 days! Ended up doing a contest, to have the lovely etsy forum peeps decide exactly who was the funkiest!! And we all bow down to the queen of funk herself - Sarahinflorida, who truly is one funky gal!! lol

Sunraven0's Funky ACEO

Missknits' Funky Button Cuff

Missknits' Funky PomPom Cuff

There were a couple of items not shown above because they were put into edit for one reason. but this is the gist of it! So who would you have voted for???

And be sure to be on the look out, there is rumor we may do a halloween themed one!

This journal is coptic bound and appears to be covered with a beautiful mango Thai paper and accented with a stamp art. Undiscovered Series Part 8 - Meet Slobot

Take me to your leader! lol isnt that what you think of when you see this little guy? He's called a Slobot and he's a martian farmer robot! I dont think i could do justice to describing these little guys, so this is straight form the listing: "Funny thing about Mars, lots of little worker bee slobots running around doing all the hard work... turns out the latest crew to arrive are FRUIT FARMERS! there are four that we have seen so far, all of them sporting coats of paint that correspond to their fruit specialties. this one is green, and he is a lime farmer. His special abilities include direct, mental correspondence with lime trees and the ability to talk a tree into producing fruit, no matter what kind of attitude it has."

Ah! i want a slobot now too! in fact i want the whole crew!!

Undiscovered Series Part 7 - Meet Katemdot

Ah, so here i was Pouncing along, and looky what i found! Another undiscovered beauty! This cute yellow strapless seersucker dress, made by katemdot i just adore!

What i think i really love about Katemdot's dresses, is that she "turns discarded fabric and clothing items into modern, wearable looks." They have that modern yet vintage feel to them. Now if i only had the body to wear them! lol

Undiscovered Series Part 6 - Hartlaub

I love this cuff! Hartlaub makes some of the coolest cuffs i think i have ever seen! She uses vintage fabric scraps, buttons and hand woven material to create her one of a kind cuffs! As Hartlaub puts it, "They are a fashion hug for your eco-friendly, non-leather wearin’ wrist!" How can you not love that! She has so many awesome cuffs, besides the one above, i could never choose just one!

Ok Friends, off to Pounce some more!! Come back tomorrow for Part 7 of our Undiscovered Series!

Undiscovered Series Part 5 - Meet Kaylamick

Are you all enjoying all these undiscovered treasures as much as i am? I sure hope so! Despite Pounce constantly freezing on me, i still enjoy seeing what new finds i can come across!

So today i bring to you Kaylamick! She combines her love for pottery with jewelry and each piece is fused with glass to create these very cool ceramic pendants. I just loved this ceramic tree pendant. It's very earthy and natural feeling. But the cool thing is, apparently the tree is actually carved into the pendant itself!

Undiscovered Series Part 4 - Meet PinkPotsCo

Ok i just love these Cups!! Called Four Seasons Tea Cups, as we can see each depicts one of the four seasons! There is something also kind of vintage about these cups that makes me love them even more!

Again, it was while Pouncing around, i came across PinkPotsCo's shop and saw these lovelies! I also just adored her Dragon Teapot!

Undiscovered Series Part 3 - Sparkflight

So i hope you have been enjoying this Undiscovered Series so far! Welcome to Part 3! Ok now how cool is this! Called Coffee Man ( rightfully so as we can see!) made by Sparkflight, is this not the neatest thing ever!

Coffee Man is an original life-sized human wire sculpture! Quoted from the description: "Need some quiet company with your morning coffee? This barefoot guy in jeans and a t-shirt is the silent type, but will bring a smile to your face." And truly when i discovered him through Pounce, he did make me smile! I had never seen anything quite like this!

He apparently measures about 47 inches tall and is said to be that of a 5 foot 10 inch man! truly life sized!

Sparkflight also has many other very cool wire pieces! Including one of my other favorites of hers, the Red Cardinal, and this amazing one called Mother Nature.

Undiscovered Series Part 1 - Meet Boris - err umm Rather Meet Sebold!

This is Boris! I came across this cute critter while wondering around in Pounce. He immediatly caught my eye! First off i love all things felt! its kind of my new craft i have been learning, so i have a tremendous amount of admiration for anyone who can create hand felted items. Boris is spectacular! He is a "Filzkin" as described in his listing. Created from natural merino wool dyed all in one piece. He is all wool, no stitches, no seams, no stuffing!

"Boris is a bouncing ball on legs. He jumps and bounces on his slipper feet or slides along at high speed. He’s a perpetual teenager, and a bit silly and annoying at times. He particularly irritates Mr McKarr." (as taken from his description)

Seboldoriginals makes all kinds of wonderful "Filzkin" creatures! All unique, original and truly adorable!

Getting Squirelly!

So i thought i would have a little fun with today's post, because well i just had to share this picture. I took it a couple of days ago. Its not the best picture, but i was too afraid if moved any closer i would scare the little guy away! lol

So the deal was i had just been outside and put out a ton of bird seed and squirrel food like i do almost every day. i had just sat down and looked out the window and this is what i see staring back at me! lol

I was a bit worried at first, he was sick or something, but then he would sit up for a minute and eat some food, then lay back down all sprawled out. I guess he was just chillin! He stayed up there for most of the afternoon too! Even the birds fluttering around , never seemed to disturb him! Too cute huh!

Til next time, little squirrely!

Just Had to Share!

So i just had to share with you all today something i received in the mail! As it turned out i participated in a kind of contest on Etsy. The deal was to submit new word ideas for her new line of scrabble pendants. Who would have thought she would like something i came up with! lol

So long story short, I won! Woohoo!! I got to choose any pendant i wanted as my prize. She had so many to choose from! I loved them all! Especially her very fun play on knitting words! But i decided to go with this cute DREAM one. Why, you may ask (and believe me, she did!) lol Well, because it fits me. I love blue, i wear a lot of blue, and my life has always been focused around my own personal dreams, and believing in them. I constantly strive to remember, my dreams can come true.

So be sure to check out Pendantsandmore for really cute and fun pendants!

Olympic Treasury

I don't know about anyone else, but i am getting excited about the upcoming summer Olympics starting on Friday! So i thought it would be fun to make a treasury themed just for this special event! I love watching the opening ceremony, gymnastic events, diving, swimming, well ok, i like almost all of it! I am amazed at the talent and skill these gymnasts have!

I was able to find some pretty cool Olympic themed items on Etsy too i think! There werent a lot, surprisingly, but the ones i did find, i thought were perfect for my Treasury.

I especially loved Imotimes Olympic Time Clock made out of a 1988 Olympic souvenier! How creative is that! Also, the Olympic Rings Necklace by CakesMix. So cute and fun! But all these items are worth checking out for all you Summer Games fans!

Feel free to comment, what sports will you be watching? which country are you rooting for?
