And 2nd Place Goes toooooooo

Ok so i am a little delayed on this, due to a lot of family issues and events going on... (won't go into now!) But without further ado! Let me announce that the 2nd Place Winner of the Spring Themed Contest was awarded to Susanschrock !!! yay! Congrats Susan! And, as a part of her prize, she gets her own feature here on my blog!

By the way, this was her entry!

Cute, right??

Ok, so i asked Susan several questions, about her, her shop, and well just stuff! I hope you enjoy! And take a stroll through her shop! She has something everyone can use and would want!

1. How and when did you first hear about Etsy? And what made you decide to open up shop?
I heard about Etsy from my friend Bethany, who opened up a shop in late 2007. I was her first customer! As the recipient of several of my handmade greeting cards, she encouraged me to open my open shop on Etsy. I'm so glad she did.

2. What do you love most about the things you make?
I really love making custom items for the special occasions in people's lives, such as wedding favor bags or shower invitations. I feel like I'm helping make a keepsake for those special moments.

3. What one piece of advice would you give to other etsy sellers, especially newbies?
Give the trading forums a try! You might not be making money off those transactions, but you are getting exposure for your shop as well as positive feedback. Plus, it's a great way to treat yourself with other shop's handmade items.

4. What is your favorite thing in your shop? or favorite thing to make?
My favorite thing to make is the custom glassine favor bags. I haven't seen anything else like them on Etsy and they can be used for a variety of purposes, from party favors to packaging for handmade items.

5. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I hope to have a handful of boutiques that I regularly supply greeting cards and stationery to.

6. What is your favorite shop on etsy and why?
I have so many favorite shops on Etsy, especially jewelry and soap makers. Among my favorites: sunbasilgarden, concordsoap, Hestiahouseworks, lucie39, sarahinflorida and knotartWA.

7. If money was no object, what item on etsy would you buy?
I'd buy a closet full of Amy Butler purses from Etsy!

8. If you could be featured anywhere, what would excite you the most?
I'd love to be featured in Paper Crafts magazine or perhaps Better Homes and Gardens.

So i hope you all enjoyed our visit with Susan from Susanschrock and take a peek in her shop! You just might find something you cant live without!!

Blogger Award Catch Up!

So lots of family stuff been going on, with the loss of my uncle and things. So i am trying to play a bit of blogger catch up! In my internet online absence i was honored to be awarded with a blogger award! I was truly grateful!

The Lemonade Award

WeeKnit was so kind to include me among 9 others for the Lemonade Award! Now i had never heard of this award before, but i have to say its a very cool one! And of course always fun to pass it on!

After a long week, heck month, it really was a pleasant surprise!

The Lemonade Award is given to someone who has shown gratitude or a great attitude in a given week. Then each recipient gets to pass the award along to 10 more people. The hard part for me, is narrowing it down to just 10 others! I follow so many great blogs, so please do not feel left out if i did not choose you (this time around!) You all, in my book, deserve it. But these 10, i feel, stood out the most to me when i think of what this award stands for! They are always uplifting, inspiring, creative, and positive blogs.

Rules for the award:
1. Put the logo on your blog or post.
2. Nominate 10 blogs that show attitude and/or gratitude.
3. Be sure to link to your nominees within your post.
4. Let them know they have received this award by commenting on a post.
5. Nominate your favorites and link to this blog.

So i hope you take the time and check out their blog too!

Fondest Memories

So i know you might be sick of seeing pics of my Uncle Mike. But bear with me one last time. I felt i had to do one last blog in his honor. I was sifting through some more pictures, and ran across these.

Probably one of my fondest memories of my Uncle Mike growing up as a kid, was when i was HIS date to our cousin Meff's wedding. (she was his cousin so my 2nd cousin or however that works). But my brother had been ill with lyme's disease so my parents had to stay back home with him. My uncle Flew all the up from san antonio to where we lived in fort worth, texas. Picked me up, and i got to be "his date" for the week.

I remember thinking it was the coolest thing in the world! I got to go out of town with out my parents and my brother didnt get to go! I got to go to Chicago, see the Sears Tower, travel all over the city just me and my uncle! I got to hang out with my ever so cool cousins and aunt (see pic above). I just thought i was the luckiest girl ever, cause i was my uncle's date. (yes that is me in the blonde hair in front oh my how times have changed!)

I was probably 4 or 5 in this one, my Uncle mike to the left and Uncle Jack to the right. I have always had the best uncle's ever! Miss You Uncle Mike!
