*What is your favorite music?   Techno music

Feature Friday! Meet Laurie Shanholtzer!

So every week, leading to Christmas, i plan on featuring a new person and their shop! So join with me, in this first installment and say hello to a lovely lady, Laurie! She is an artist, who does beautiful works of art for anyone, of any age!
" I love painting artwork for children and pieces that are nostalgic and romantic- to tell a story or capture a special moment in my pastels."
She sells reproduction prints,  original pastel paintings, personalized and giclee prints, jewelry, note cards and invitations all based on her original artwork.
A little background on Laurie.  She is retired, from over 40 years as a portrait painter (how cool is that!)   Now, she says, she can take some time to paint what she has had little time to do in the past.

I asked her, why did she start selling online:  "I started my Etsy shop to have a good home for my newly created works. I am having such a blast experimenting with new things and having a venue to showcase the artworks I have wanted to create."
You can find Laurie and her creations online either through her Etsy shop http://www.etsy.com/shop/LaurieShanholtzer , or on Facebook at  http://www.facebook.com/LJShanholtzer .  She also has her own website at  http://laurieshanholtzer.weebly.com/

And, for a limited time, Laurie is offering my readers a great deal! Now through Nov. 15th you can get 20% off using code FBSALE .  This would be a great time to get some holiday gifts!!

Funky Funky Funky Funky

Bringing a little funky your way this weekend!!

A bunch of us on this thread got to talking one day, and we all were kind of feeling anything but inspired to make things. Then Donna (aka Artbydonnarose) challenged us all to make something funky! Something out of our realm, something different, odd, wierd, but still very cool! But we only had 3 days to make our items. Well, i tell ya, what transpired from this seemingly harmless challenge - i dont think any of us could have anticipated! We created some 21 items between i think the 7 of us, in just 3 days! Ended up doing a contest, to have the lovely etsy forum peeps decide exactly who was the funkiest!! And we all bow down to the queen of funk herself - Sarahinflorida, who truly is one funky gal!! lol

Missknits' Funky Button Cuff

Missknits' Funky PomPom Cuff

There were a couple of items not shown above because they were put into edit for one reason. but this is the gist of it! So who would you have voted for???

And be sure to be on the look out, there is rumor we may do a halloween themed one!

It's all About Cake!!

So I realize it's been far too long since I lasted posted anything to my blog. I figured it was high time i did! I racked my brain for the longest time trying to think about what to post and write about. I love to feature etsy sellers mostly on here. But who would be hext? It's so hard to decide.

So then i thought, why not highlight the lovely gals from the CAKE thread i am a part of on Etsy! They have been so incredibly nice and are just a ton of fun, and each one extremely talented!

So i guess it would be good to tell you what CAKE stands for first lol. CAKE = Creative Artists Kick-Ass Etsians. Anyway, it's a great group of people! They are, as i understand it, kind of an unofficial street team on etsy. But couldnt be any nicer people! We have a ton of fun on the thread - http://www.etsy.com/forums_thread.php?thread_id=5688856 come check it out sometime!

I wish i could highlight each of the shops seperatly, but i am afraid it would take about 20 pages to do so! lol So here are just a few of my many favorites among them!

I just love this print from celebratelife. Her shop is so full of fun, cute, bright, cheery prints, cards and now pendants. Everything about her pieces just makes you smile! Just a blurb from her profile . "I'm a mom, sister, daughter, aunt and friend, and I believe that everything happens for a reason and that each and every day is a reason to celebrate."

Now if i could, if i won the lottery or something, i think i would buy this whole shop out! This beautiful piece of pottery is made from happylake. Her pieces are unique, one of a kind, and true treasures! I can only imagine her pictures don't do her work justice.

This really awesome suncatcher was made by none other than beadbug ! She makes all kinds of fun fused glass pieces, from pendants to suncatchers, and well all kinds of jewelry! I also really love her ladybug pendants too!

Cozyloft i think is known for her whimsical owls, and her shabby chic sachets, but i dont think many often see her beautiful art that she does too! Called Small World, I really love this original painting, described as modern minimalist. She was also, I believe, the first person i met on the CAKE thread and welcomed me in!

Now who wouldnt be captivated by this stunning necklace! It surely caught my eye! I am not sure i personally could pull it off, but i do definitly love it! Called Lusca Boho Chic Octopus, it really does just catch the eye. All of voleurdebijoux pieces have this old world romance feel about them. Truly stunning, and such a unique style and feel. To wear one of her pieces is like wearing mini treasures.

Behind Closed Doors is one of my favorites of DistressingDelilah's. Her photographs, mixed media, jewelry are all so unique and have this mysterious feel to them. She often uses old, vintage, and retro things to create her pieces, which i just love! Sometimes, dark, sometimes scary, sometimes sweet, but all very awesome!

I truly wish i could post something from each of the shops. And maybe my next blog post i will try and feature those i couldn't this time. But for now, please check out the shops! I have listed each one of the members below too, so you can have fun browsing them! They are all super nice and very friendly! Or come say hi sometime in the thread!

Like Mother Like Daughter

One truly talented family i have come to know on etsy, one mother, one daughter, both with an amazing amount of talent! I am talking about Artbydonnarose and Bellacosaart. I think they have more talent in their little pinkies than i do in my whole body! They knit, they felt (donna does amazing needlefelting!) and they both are amazing painters with somewhat similar yet also very different styles!

Artbydonnarose whose shop offers a variety of paintins, watercolors, knitted items and her wonderful needlefelts, also has a 2nd shop dedicated to just her paintings called Crazypainter.

Like this beautiful Sunflower painting here. I have to say its one of my favorites!

Or this watercolor of Venician Glass Candy.

However i just discovered this morning one of her newest projects. This Needlefelted Sunrise, which i think is just gorgeous work! The time and effort put into a project like this is just amazing, the colors are so vivid and alive! I truly love this one!

But we cant forget about her daughter, Bella. She has done a wonderful mix of watercolors, jewelry, greeting cards, and painted spoons - seen here of a Red Lilly.

She takes wonderful photographs, that truly show off her talented work. I just love this necklace she made too, called Crimson Beauty.

But i would have to say my truly favorite piece of work she has painted is her Orange Lily. I just love how vibrant the colors are!

Be sure to check out both their shops, Artbydonnarose and Crazypainter and her daughter Bellacosaart on Etsy. They truly do high quality beautiful work! And they will give you nothing but the best!
