♥♥♥ How did you hear about Etsy?

Kinda funny, I was searching the good ole Craigslist for an old table to decoupage, and ran into an Etsy link from a seller. I’ve been hooked ever since. I have sold my items at local flea markets, and boutiques, but it became a little time consuming with small children, you know travel and set up. I decided to sell here because I had never seen a website for “handmade only” I was psyched. I thought, “I can do what I love right at home, while chasing my crazy little kids around”.




♥♥♥ What Inspires you?

Life. What else shapes us? My inspirations comes from places I have traveled, people I have met, and songs that I have heard and love. Everything I create has a story waiting for you to explore.

♥♥♥ What is your one main Goal/Dream?

Gandhi said it best “be the change you wish to see in the world”

Therefore, my dream is to create and inspire, by means of my craft, have a successful shop, which will allow me to stay home and raise my 4 beautiful children.

♥♥♥ How did you hear about Etsy?

I first heard about Etsy around a year ago and having always been into crafting I loved it instantly and started buying! After seeing so many beautiful products I became well and truly inspired to resurrect my sewing machine. After making a couple of quilts for my kids I received so many comments on them from family and friends that I decided to try selling my wares and what better place that Etsy.




♥♥♥ What Inspires you?

My inspiration definitely comes from my children, I have a daughter who is four and a son who is two. I love creating things for them and they love having things that are handmade by me, which just makes me want to make them more! I am also inspired by what I see around me, including all the beautiful fabrics out there. Also, to be completely honest I have a severe case of 'I can so do that!' when I see something whether it be skirts, cupcakes, leggings, hair clips or quilts, I just decide that I can do it, that I want to do it and I teach myself. There is a lot of satisfaction in knowing that in all the things I have made, I am completely self taught.


♥♥♥ What is your one main Goal/Dream?

I never want to make a full living from crafting, I love it too much to do it full time, it is my relief from everyday, something I do to be happy. I am currently studying to be a teacher so that takes a lot of time, which combined with being a mother and wife doesn't leave much free time, but when I am free you will find me with a tape measure around my neck in front of my sewing machine, or on Etsy! My goal is to be happy, for my family to be happy, to be a good teacher and to continue to create for a very long time.


♥♥♥ What one celebrity would you just love to see sporting one of your pieces?

The one celebrity I would love to buy my product would have to be Jennifer Garner, she seems to understand a child's need to be a child, not a model for whichever product is 'in'. My quilts and blankets are functional, they are pretty, but they also make awesome cubbies when draped over a cot or chair. My kids have taken theirs camping, they have been dragged around the house and used as play rugs, they are for children.

I heard about Etsy through my sister who has gotten me a few adorable gifts from sellers on here. I decided that I wanted to start selling on here because I get great joy from creating and crafting ornaments and objects, and I get even more joy when I have shared one of my pieces with someone else and I see how much they like it and appreciate the amount of time and work that went into it.




♥♥♥ What Inspires you?

I get a lot of my inspiration from nature. I am an avid birdwatcher and gardener, so I like to include birds and flowers in my work whenever possible. I have also always admired the style of the Victorian era, so that's where my color scheme and some of my other ideas come from.


♥♥♥ What is your one main Goal/Dream?

My one true goal and dream in my life is to be happy. Every day that I get older I realize that I need to try to fill up my life with as many things that bring myself and others joy. Crafting is one of the things that helps me achieve this goal. :)

If I could see one celebrity buying one of my pieces, I guess it would have to be... hmmm... Kate Winslet? Not sure why, but she popped into my head as the answer for this one. I guess because she has always struck me as being very down-to-earth.

So Excited! I got Featured!

So if you are a follower then you know i rarely, if hardly ever toot my own horn here! I pretty much enjoy showcasing others! But i just have to a lil tooting this morning! lol
Last night i was alerted that an online Magazine featured one of my pieces!!

I heard about ETSY through a friend whose shop name is "mamigirlboutique." I started browsing and buying art for myself. Then I decided this would be a perfect place to make my goods readily available on a secure/easy-to-use site.



♥♥♥ What Inspires you?
I am inspired by two things mainly - 1. COLOR...I love color. I love the moods color evokes. I am fascinated by the changes a color can undergo simply by being placed by another color. But most importantly, I am drawn to the richness of color - the endless spectrum of possibilities. 2. I am greatly inspired by the "Altered Art Movement." I love to thumb through the pages of ANYTHING Somerset Studio publishes, but my favorite is their CLOTH, PAPER, SCISSORS magazine. The use of color, texture, and innovative techniques among these artists are powerful and inspiring.

♥♥♥ What is your one main Goal/Dream?
My one true goal/dream would be to live happily and find contentment in my professional life. I am blessed that I have those things in my personal life, but professionally I crave more. I'm putting myself out there a little in saying this, but I really want to be "known." I want to teach art classes at conventions. I want people to read my name and have an immediate visual image come to mind because they love my work. I want to walk in the shadows of Donna Kato and Kathleen Dustin ;)
♥♥♥ What one celebrity would you just love to see sporting one of your pieces?
For the purposes of increasing business, my celebrity of choice would have to be OPRAH. Everyone wants what Oprah wears! And to have her mention you in one of her give-away shows would be like hitting the JACKPOT. But I would be most flattered if someone elegant and classic like Meryl Streep or Kate Blanchett wore my things.

I heard about Etsy from other moms I know online, who use and sell here themselves! After browsing quite a bit, I decided to try and see if I could make it work for me, with my baby things :D

My kids! And others kids really. And the fact that the mass produced things in the stores are usually really over priced, IMO and not made with nearly as much care as what I make.

♥♥♥ What is your one main Goal/Dream?

This is a toughie. Though I would have to say, to be able to stay home with my kids, like I have the past 8 years, but to also be able to help support our family and better our living situation, through the things I can make. We have had a few rough years, with layoffs and such, for my husband and Id love to help make things easier on him.

You know, I'm not sure at all! I don't pay a whole lot of attention to them. Maybe Jennifer Garner?? That would really be cool, if ANY of them bought one of my things :D

I heard about Etsy through my sister-in-law, she has a shop called Theferriswheels. She was having so much fun selling her products that I decided to give it a go.

I heard about etsy from a casual aquaintance who works at my bank and saw my earrings and told me all about it.


♥♥♥ What gives you inspiration to make your pieces?

I get inspiration from everywhere-- inevitabley the items receive a name while I work on them. I went to school for art, so I had the luxury to take multiple mediums and explore which ones worked for me. For instance, I am not a sculptor! But I do almost everything 2 dimentional there is and have a great love for textiles!

My one true goal or dream is to be the fully complete woman that God made me to be-- glorifying Him and being true to the creator/artist, He fashioned.

The one celebrity-- that is a tough one. I think someone like Jada Pinkett Smith. She seems down to earth and my stuff would look amazing on her.

One of my friends loves buying some unique handmade stuff on Etsy, she said I have very beautiful jewelry, there will be customers love them as we do. So I decided to sell on Etsy just to share our beauties!

I loved creating handcrafted stuff since I was young and I learned how to make jewelry 6 years ago, then I just can not stop myself creating. I love to design some unique jewelry for office wear, but I also enjoy designing jewelry for brides, It makes me very happy to see the brides wearing my work on their big day!

So today i would like to introduce you to Nailzimage! She creates not only stunning and such detailed limited edition or one of a kind jewelry, pendants, earrings, but also gorgeous designed and painted nails! I have never seen nails this detailed before! You really must check them out!


♥♥♥ How did you hear about Etsy and decide to start selling here?

I heard about Esty from a friend who is selling here so i decided to try my hand at it.

I actually started doing earrings to sell but there were times when i got an idea but which is unable to materialize due to the lack of suitable materials. It is rather frustrating. I would then go and buy the materials but it would turn out to be different from what I wanted.

In the end, I actually wake up one morning and decided that instead of buying and getting the wrong materials, why don't I create what I wanted. I am actually a trained nail educator so I can create a lot of designs using my acrylic, nail stuff etc....

It took me a few months to fine tune my works before I started selling them on etsy. It's totally different to doing nails. I am rather particular about details. If I am not happy with it, I will redo it so it actually took me quite a while to finish a piece.



♥♥♥ What inspires you?

My inspiration comes from all around me. Besides my training as a nail educator, i have also undergone formal training as an image consultant, make up artist, jewelry designer(AJP,GIA). As you can see, they are all beauty related which helps me in selecting designs, colors etc... My latest designs actually consists of a few underwater items. I love diving. For example, the jellyfish pendant is actually based on a memory that i had when i was diving in Manado. There were plenty of jellyfish on my left side. Another pendant is actually a spin off of what I did for my master nail educator exam in Korea last year.


♥♥♥ What is your one true Goal/Dream?

My one true goal is to win a nail championship.

♥♥♥ What one celebrity would you just love to see adorned in one of your pieces?

Well, i have no idea who i would like to see wearing my stuffs. But I think that I would like to see Trang Nguyen(a nail grandmaster) to wear it. It would be an honor. Maybe I will pass one to him next time he comes down to train us. LOL..


I am also gonna toot her horn a little bit! after reading her profile, i just had to say that Nailzimage is definitely an artist in her field! i think often time we don't think of nail artists, as a true art form, but it indeed is! This is one talented person! Look at some of her accomplishments!

♥♥♥ How did you hear about Etsy and what made you decide to sell here?


I heard about Etsy when a friend of mine at college started selling her artwork here, so I came and looked around. I have been on Etsy as a buyer since January of last year, but just opened my own shop in December. Basically, it was time to clean out my portfolio (I have BOXES of photos) and so I made the decision to try to sell some of my work.



♥♥♥ What inspires you?


Inspiration comes from anywhere & everywhere; I don't have a single aesthetic or viewpoint when it comes to my photos. I just love to be behind the camera; in fact, I also work as a freelancer and shoot weddings and portraits on the side. In terms of my art photos, I suppose I focus primarily on the things we see every day but that slip under the radar due to their familiarity. If I do landscapes, they tend to be the kind that include junked-out cars and billboards rather than pretty trees and waterfalls. That kind of immediacy, and that evidence of human involvement with the landscape, stirs a reaction in us that you can't get from an untouched picture of a mountain or a sunset.



♥♥♥ What is your one main Dream or Goal?


Another good question. Right now, I'm supporting myself by writing and shooting photos, so it's hard to complain; that's quite a dream already. I suppose I'd like to continue on this path but on a larger scale. I love music journalism, traveling, shooting portraits, and writing fiction, so I suppose I can boil it all down by saying I'd like to be known as "that best-selling novelist who took those famous photos of Bob Dylan." :)



♥♥♥ What one celebrity would just tickle you pink if they bought from you?

Really good question. She's not a typical celebrity, but I do daydream sometimes about what would happen to my shop if Dooce (dooce.com) should decide to buy from me. She spotlights Etsy sellers on her website often and she has great taste, so that would be a pretty big compliment.
